Once upon a time, a BLK GRL from Lansing dreamed of owning a quaint little shop where women who look like her would travel from near and far to buy books, hold space, pray, laugh, and spend all day complimenting each other.
In 2022, her dream became reality and she opened Socialight Society - an independent bookshop that specifically caters to Black women who often lack representation in traditional bookstores. Recently featured in The New York Times, The Root, and Oprah's Book Club; Socialight Society curates classic, contemporary and children's titles written for and by women of color.
